AROUND THE STATE
AUSTIN -- Here is the weekly fishing report as compiled for the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department for June 10. (Full report available on Web at www.BrazosOutdoors.com.)
CENTRAL
BASTROP: Water clear. Black bass are good on watermelon red crankbaits, spinnerbaits, and soft plastics. Crappie are good on minnows over brush piles in 2025 feet. Channel and blue catfish are good on live bait and stinkbait. Yellow catfish are slow.
BELTON: Water clear; 72 degrees; 0.28' low. Black bass are good on spinnerbaits along the banks. Hybrid striper are good but small on shad at night. White bass are good on shad at night. Crappie are good on minnows in 1820 feet. Channel and blue catfish are good on hot dogs and stinkbait. Yellow catfish are good on trotlines and juglines baited with live perch and live shad.
BROWNWOOD: Water stained; 73 degrees; 6.16' low. Black bass are excellent on Grande Bass Rattle Snakes, Bass Hogg spinnerbaits, and craw colored crankbaits in 45 feet. Hybrid striper are slow. White bass are excellent on Li'l Fishies, small Rat-L-Traps, and shad colored crankbaits. Crappie are excellent on Li'l Fishies and tube jigs along shorelines in the Pecan Bayou and Mountain View areas, and along the 279 bridge in 13 feet. Channel catfish are good in baited holes in 510 feet. Yellow catfish are good on trotlines baited with perch.
BUCHANAN: Water clear; 73 degrees; 16.28' low. Black bass are good on Daiquiri Skip-N-Pop topwaters, Bleeding Shad Rat-L-Traps, and weightless wacky rigged green pumpkin Whacky Sticks with chartreuse tails along break lines of creek bluffs early in 412 feet, and areas with submerged brush in pockets of creeks. Striped bass to 23" are good on topwaters and Rat-L-Traps from Flag Island to Black Rock on the surface at first light in 20-30 feet, jigging white Curb's bucktail jigs, and drifting live bait through schools. White bass are slow to fair trolling Shad Raps and jigging Pirk Minnows and Tiny Traps over rock piles in 2030 feet. Crappie are fair on minnows and Curb's crappie jigs. Channel catfish are good on live bait and cut bait. Yellow and blue catfish are good on juglines and trotlines baited with live bait.
CANYON LAKE: Water clear; 71 degrees; 12.28' low. Black bass are good on Texas rigged watermelon red Whacky Sticks, JDC Skip-N-Pop topwaters, and pumpkin 1/4oz. Curb's Erratic jigs in 612 feet along bluff ledges. Striped bass are slow to fair trolling Gizz 4 crankbaits and vertically jigging white Curb's striper jigs. White bass are fair on Road Runners upriver in 48 feet. Smallmouth bass are good on root beer JDC curl tail grubs/craws, smoke/red tubes, and silver flake Whacky Sticks on ball jigheads along main lake points and ledges in 1015 feet. Crappie are fair to good on Curb's crappie jigs and live minnows around submerged brush piles along break lines. Channel catfish are fair in the upper end of the lake. Yellow and blue catfish are fair on juglines and trotlines in creeks.
COLEMAN: Water clear; 71 degrees; 7.13' low. Black bass are good on watermelon red soft plastic lizards, crankbaits, and electric blue worms. Hybrid striper are slow. Crappie are slow. Channel and blue catfish are fair on live bait. Yellow catfish are slow.
COLORADO RIVER: (At Colorado Bend State Park) Water lightly stained. Black bass are slow. Striped bass are slow. White bass are fair on minnows and silver spoons. Crappie are fair on minnows. Catfish are good on stinkbait and nightcrawlers.
FAYETTE: Water clear; 75 degrees. Black bass are good on shad patterned shallow running crankbaits and Texas and Carolina rigged soft plastic worms in 420 feet. Channel and blue catfish are good on juglines baited with shrimp and shad in 1012 feet.
GRANBURY: Water clear; 1.78' low. Black bass are good on watermelon red and chartreuse soft plastics, crankbaits, and spinnerbaits. Striped bass are fair on white bucktail jigs. White bass are fair on minnows and watermelon spinnerbaits. Crappie are good on minnows and chartreuse tube jigs. Catfish are good on stinkbait, liver, and frozen shrimp.
GRANGER: Water murky; 74 degrees; 2.08' low. Black bass are fair on buzzbaits in 23 feet. White bass are fair on Rat-L-Traps around points and shallow roadbeds. Crappie are good on black and yellow jigs in 412 feet. Blue catfish are good on shad near Willis Creek. Yellow catfish are good on trotlines baited with live perch.
LBJ: Water stained; 74 degrees; 0.51' low. Black bass are fair on watermelon red Flukes, watermelon JDC Skip-N-Pop topwaters, Bleeding Shad Rat-L-Traps, and weightless green pumpkin wacky rigged Whacky Sticks along riprap on seawalls and break lines of flats early in 410 feet. White bass are slow to fair trolling Shad Raps. Crappie are very good on minnows and white Curb's crappie jigs over brush piles in 10 feet. Channel catfish are good on minnows and dipbait. Yellow and blue catfish are good on trotlines baited with live perch and carp.
NAVARRO MILLS: Water stained; 71 degrees; 0.23' high. Black bass are good on soft plastic worms and spinnerbaits. White bass are slow. Crappie are fair on minnows and chartreuse tube jigs. Channel and blue catfish are good on shad among stumps in 14 feet. Yellow catfish are slow.
PROCTOR: Water stained; 71 degrees; 5.66' low. Black bass are excellent on minnows, soft plastics, crankbaits, and spinnerbaits. Striped bass are good on chartreuse striper jigs and minnows. White bass are good on minnows and shad colored crankbaits. Crappie are excellent on minnows. Channel and blue catfish are excellent on shad. Yellow catfish are fair on trotlines baited with live bait.
SOMERVILLE: Water murky; 78 degrees; 0.86' low. Black bass are fair on Rat-L-Traps and minnows. Hybrid striper are good on crawfish and super spoons. White bass are good on crawfish and super spoons. Crappie are good on minnows, black/chartreuse jigs with red heads, and super shad jigs. Channel and blue catfish are good on punchbait and SureShot in 2 feet. Yellow catfish are slow.
STILLHOUSE: Water clear; 86 degrees; 1.53' low. Black bass are good on minnows. White bass are fair on minnows. Crappie are fair on minnows. Channel and blue catfish are slow. Yellow catfish are slow.
TRAVIS: Water stained; 73 degrees; 27.91' low. Black bass are good on chrome topwaters, June bug worms, and grubs in 518 feet. Striped bass are fair on chrome topwaters and smoke grubs in 1020 feet. White bass are good on chrome topwaters, smoke grubs, and white shad raps in 825 feet. Crappie are fair on blue/white tube jigs and roadrunners. Channel and blue catfish are fair on fresh cut bait and nightcrawlers in 1525 feet. Yellow catfish are slow.
WALTER E. LONG: Water clear; 74 degrees. Black bass are very good on shad. Hybrid striper are fair on shad and crankbaits. White bass are slow. Crappie are fair on minnows. Channel and blue catfish are good on nightcrawlers, frozen shad, and frozen shrimp. Yellow catfish are slow.
WHITNEY: Water stained; 9.17' low. Black bass are good on watermelon, watermelon red, and pumpkinseed Texas and Carolina rigged soft plastics and Rat-L-Traps. Striped bass are fair on white/green striper jigs. White bass are fair on minnows, Charlie slabs, pet spoons, and spinnerbaits. Crappie are good on minnows and Li'l Fishies. Catfish are good on frozen shrimp and stinkbait.
NORTHEAST
ATHENS: Water lightly stained, 77-84 degrees; 0.23' high. Black bass are good on drop shot rigged finesse worms and weightless flukes. Crappie are fair to good on minnows and jigs. Catfish are fair on nightcrawlers.
BOB SANDLIN: Water stained; 78-84 degrees; 0.19' high. Black bass are good on drop shot rigged finesse worms, Texas rigs, 5" Senkos and topwaters. Crappie are fair to good on minnows and jigs around bridge columns and brush piles. Catfish are fair on trotlines with nightcrawlers and shiners.
BRIDGEPORT: Water fairly clear; 77-83 degrees; 8.41' low. Black bass are fair on shad pattern crankbaits, white/chartreuse spinnerbaits and watermelon seed lizards. Crappie are fair on minnows and jigs. White bass are good on Rooster Tails and topwaters. Catfish are fair to good on nightcrawlers and cut shad.
CADDO: Water off color; 79-85 degrees; 1.66' high. Black bass are good on Texas rigged 10" worms, Senkos and wacky rigs. Crappie are fair to good on minnows and jigs. Catfish are good on trotlines with live bait. Bream are good on red wigglers and crickets.
CEDAR CREEK: Water lightly stained; 78-83 degrees; 0.2' low. Black bass are fair on topwaters early, midday switching to Carolina rigs, jigs and chatterbaits. White bass are good on slabs over humps and on topwater when surface schooling is occurring. Hybrid striper are good on Sassy Shad. Crappie are good on jigs around boathouses and over brush piles. Catfish are good on cut shad and chicken liver drifted over points.
COOPER: Water lightly stained; 78-84 degrees; 0.2' high. Black bass are fair on drop shot rigs, Rat-L-Traps and Texas rigs. Crappie are fair to good on jigs and minnows. White bass are good on slabs and Rooster Tails. Hybrid striper are fair to good on Sassy Shad and live shad. Catfish are fair on nightcrawlers and prepared bait.
FAIRFIELD: Water fairly clear; 78-88 degrees. No report available.
FORK: Water lightly stained; 78-85 degrees; 0.54' high. Black bass are fair on topwaters early and late, and midday on drop shot rigged 7" worms and Carolina rigged Brush Hogs. Crappie are good on minnows and jigs under the bridges and over brush piles. Catfish are fair on nightcrawlers and prepared baits.

TEXOMA: Water off color; 77-84 degrees; 3.86' high. Black bass are fair on drop shot rigged finesse worms, crankbaits, Carolina rigs and jigs. Striped bass are good on live shad in 35-40 near deep water drop-offs. Catfish are good on prepared bait and cut shad.
WEATHERFORD: Water lightly stained; 79-84 degrees; 5.67' low. Black bass are good on Texas rigged Baby Brush Hogs, spinnerbaits and split shot rigs. Crappie are good on minnows in the crappie house and off rocks in the marina cove. White bass are good around the lake on small shad imitation lures. Channel catfish are good on worms, liver and doughbait in the river channel on the north end. Bream are good on worms.
WRIGHT PATMAN: Water stained; 78-85 degrees; 22.13' high. Black bass are fair on spinnerbaits, medium diving firetiger crankbaits and Texas rigged Brush Hogs. Crappie are fair on minnows and jigs. White bass are fair to good on Little George's and topwaters. Catfish are fair on nightcrawlers and prepared baits.
SOUTH
AMISTAD: Water clear; 74 degrees; 0.66' high. Black bass are good on soft plastics, and on topwaters in the trees. Striped bass are slow. White bass are fair on jigging spoons. Crappie are slow. Catfish are good on cheesebait and live bait in 2540 feet. Yellow catfish are good on trotlines baited with live perch. Everyone in the boat must have a Mexico fishing license (if fishing the Mexico side) whether fishing or not.
BRAUNIG: Water stained; 71 degrees. Black bass are fair on crankbaits and dark soft plastics in reeds and near the dam. Striped bass are excellent on liver and perch off points near the pier, and down rigging spoons near the dam and jetty. Redfish are good on perch, shad, and silver spoons. Channel and blue catfish are excellent on shrimp, cheesebait, cut bait, and liver near the dam.
CALAVERAS: Water stained; 71 degrees. Black bass are fair on dark soft plastic worms and crankbaits over reed beds and in the cove near the park store. Striped bass are good on spoons and striper jigs near the dam and the crappie wall, and on chicken livers and shad near the dam and power lines. Redfish are excellent down rigging silver and gold spoons in 1020 feet, on live perch, tilapia, and crawfish near the power lines, and on live bait along the crappie wall. Crappie are slow. Channel catfish are excellent on liver, shrimp, cheesebait, and shad. Blue catfish are good on cut bait and liver near 181 Cove and the railroad bridge. Yellow catfish are slow.
CHOKE CANYON: Water clear; 73 degrees; 6.90' low. Black bass are good on deep running crankbaits and watermelon red lizards, and fair on spinnerbaits. Crappie are fair on minnows. Drum are fair on nightcrawlers and spoons. Channel and blue catfish are good on punchbait. Yellow catfish are fair on cut bait.
COLETO CREEK: Water stained; 79 degrees (87 degrees at discharge); 2.58' low. Black bass are fair on minnows. Striped bass are slow. White bass are fair on white spinnerbaits. Crappie are fair on minnows. Channel and blue catfish are fair on trotlines baited with perch and shrimp. Yellow catfish are fair on trotlines baited with perch.
FALCON: Water stained; 75 degrees. Black bass are excellent on deep running crankbaits and fair on Carolina rigged soft plastics in 48 feet. Striped bass are slow. SOUTHEAST
CONROE: Water murky; 0.05' low. Black bass are good on watermelon red and pumpkinseed Texas and Carolina rigged soft plastics and spinnerbaits. Striped bass are good on minnows and chartreuse striper jigs. Crappie are fair on minnows. Catfish are good on stinkbait, frozen shrimp, and nightcrawlers.
GIBBONS CREEK: Water clear. Black bass are good on watermelon red and watermelon/green soft plastics, spinnerbaits, and crankbaits. Crappie are fair on minnows and white/blue tube jigs. Catfish are good on stinkbait, bait shrimp, and liver.
HOUSTON COUNTY: Water clear; 78 degrees; 0.42' high. Black bass to 6 pounds are good on pumpkinseed soft plastics and perch colored crankbaits near the dam and near the subdivisions on the north and south sides of the lake. White bass are good along the northeast shore. Crappie are very good on live minnows at the pump station in 712 feet, and near the islands in 15 feet. Bream are excellent on live worms off piers and grass beds. Channel and blue catfish are good on trotlines baited with perch and shad.
LIVINGSTON: Water stained; 82 degrees; 0.15' high. Black bass are fair on spinnerbaits, crankbaits, and topwaters. Striped bass are good but small on pet spoons and hellbenders. White bass are very good on hellbenders, pet spoons, and Charlie slabs. Crappie are good on minnows. Blue catfish are very good on shad. Yellow catfish are slow.
SAM RAYBURN: Water murky; 72 degrees; 1.31' low. Black bass are fair on watermelon red and pumpkinseed soft plastics and Brush Hogs. White bass are fair on minnows, hellbenders, and silver spoons. Crappie are fair on minnows and tube jigs over brush piles. Bream are fair on nightcrawlers. Catfish are good on trotlines baited with live bait.

Crappie are good on jigs and minnows. White bass are good on live bait and white/black crankbaits. Smallmouth bass are good on live bait and white/black crankbaits along points. Walleye are good on live bait. Catfish are good on liver and live bait.
MACKENZIE: Water lightly stained; 73 degrees; 78.89' low. Black bass are good on minnows and red Rat-L-Traps. Crappie are good on minnows and jigs. White bass and striped bass are good on live bait and white crankbaits. Smallmouth bass are good on live bait and white spinnerbaits. Walleye are good on minnows and inline spinners. ARROWHEAD: Water moderately stained; 75 degrees; 4.61' low. Black bass are good on crankbaits, chatterbaits or black/blue jigs off rocky points and rip-rap. Crappie are good on minnows fished at the east side bridges and state park piers and off rip rap in 6-10 feet. White bass are good trolling and casting toward rocky points in Sailboat Cove area. COASTAL
NORTH SABINE: Trout are fair to good under birds and pods of shad on soft plastics. Redfish are good in the marsh on Stanley Ribbits. Trout are good in the river on shad.
SOUTH SABINE: Trout are fair to good under birds and pods of shad. Trout are good at the jetty on live bait and topwaters. Sheepshead are good on live shrimp tight to the rocks.
BOLIVAR: Trout are good on the south shoreline on Bass Assassins, Trout Killers and Sand Eels. Trout, sand trout and redfish are good at Rollover Pass.
TRINITY BAY: Trout are good for drifters working pods of shad and mullet on Bass Assassins, Trout Killers and Sand Eels. Trout are good at the spillway on plastics and shrimp. Redfish are good on live bait around the reefs.
EAST GALVESTON BAY: Trout are good for drifters working deep shell on limetreuse and plum plastics. Trout are good on the south shoreline on Catch 5s, MirrOlures and Catch 2000s. Whiting and sand trout are good on the edge of the Intracoastal on fresh shrimp.
WEST GALVESTON BAY: Trout are good in the surf on plastics and live bait. Sheepshead, redfish and black drum are good at the jetty on shrimp and crabs.
TEXAS CITY: Trout are fair to good along the Ship Channel on live shrimp and croakers. Redfish and sheepshead have been found around the rocks and structure on shrimp.
FREEPORT: Trout are good at San Luis Pass on shrimp and MirrOlures. Trout and Spanish mackerel are good in the surf on live bait and artificials. Sand trout and sheepshead are good on live shrimp on the reefs in Christmas Bay.
EAST MATAGORDA BAY: Trout are fair to good for drifters on live shrimp over humps and scattered shell. Waders have taken good catches on reefs on soft plastics. Redfish are fair to good on the edge of the Intracoastal on crabs and mullet.
WEST MATAGORDA BAY: Trout are good on sand and grass humps on soft plastics and topwaters. Redfish are good on topwaters and live shrimp in Oyster Lake.
PORT O'CONNOR: Trout and redfish are good on topwaters and live bait over sand, grass and shell in San Antonio Bay. Trout are good in the surf and at the jetty on croakers.
ROCKPORT: Trout are fair to good in the guts and channels on free-lined shrimp. Trout are fair over grass while drifting with live croakers. Redfish are good on mullet on the Estes Flats and in Allyn's Bight.
PORT ARANSAS: Trout, redfish and sheepshead are fair to good at the jetty on shrimp and croakers. Trout are good in the surf on topwaters and croakers. Red snapper are good offshore.
CORPUS CHRISTI: Trout are fair to good on the edge of the spoils on Gulps and live shrimp. Redfish are good in the potholes on shrimp. Trout are good in the surf on croakers.
BAFFIN BAY: Trout are good on topwaters around rocks and grass. Trout are fair to good while drifting the spoils on Bass Assassins, Trout Killers and Sand Eels.
PORT MANSFIELD: Trout are good on topwaters around sand and grass. Redfish are fair to good while drifting pot holes on shrimp and small topwaters. Offshore is good for red snapper and kingfish.
SOUTH PADRE: Good numbers of redfish and trout have come from the shallows in South Bay and Mexiquita Flats. Tarpon and snook are showing at the pass.
PORT ISABEL: Trout and redfish are fair to good at Airport Cove on topwaters and soft plastics. Trout are good on the deeper edges and flats in Laguna Vista on topwaters, DOA Shrimp and live shrimp.
